A convergence of health, equity and environmental efforts with nutrition and physical activity.  Keynote speaker: Dr. Richard Jackson, Professor in the School of Public Health, and Director/Professor of the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  Michael Krasny from KQED will be the moderator. Four breakout sessions are offered (see attached flyer). 

Conference cost: $35 before 9/19/08; $50 after 9/19/08 (scholarships available).

The green/environment movement has the same goals as obesity prevention. Both are running parallel to each other. For example, environment advocates want to get people out of cars to reduce carbon emissions and vehicle miles traveled. Health advocates want to minimize the amount of driving for reasons of physical activity.

Target Audience: Policymakers, representatives of elected officials, city and county staff, community advocates and health professionals

Come enjoy a day of exciting hands-on arts activities featuring local artists and organizations that reflect the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of our region. Activities include face painting, story telling, coloring, crafts, music, dancing, drumming and lots more.

Free admission! Spaces are very limited. Pre-registration is required. First come, first served only!
