In March 2004, FIRST 5 funded a research project with the Social Services Agency, Department of Family and Children's Services. This research prepared the agency for the new "differential response" Services for children and families referred to The Child Abuse Hotline. These new services change the way child welfare agencies respond to incoming child abuse and hotline calls providing an early level of intervention.
